UNESCO Chair Kick-off Meeting was held
Nagaoka University of Technology applied and submitted Education programme “GIGAKU SDG Institute” to UNESCO, and establishment of UNESCO Chair on Engineering Education for Sustainable Development at NUT was approved by UNESCO. UNESCO Chair Kick-off Meeting was held as a memorial of the establishment on 5th October (Fri) 2018.

At the beginning of the ceremony, President Dr. Azuma and Mr. Ikehara (Deputy Director-General for International Affairs, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) / Senior Deputy Secretary-General, Japanese National Commission for UNESCO) delivered opening speech and congratulatory Speech respectively.
Following that, Keynote lecture titled “UNESCO: Engineering the Sustainable Development Goals” was given by Ms. Rovani Sigamoney (Programme Specialist, Section for Innovation and Capacity Building in Science and Engineering, UNESCO) and delivered current progress of Engineering Education and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
We will further develop “GIGAKU SDG Institute” and apply for UNITWIN in the future.
