【Buddy Program】”Korea Day” Was Held
As part of the “Buddy Program,” Osaka University of Tourism has designated the two-week period from June 12th (Mon.) to June 23rd (Fri.) as “Korea Week.” In order to learn about Korea and deepen friendships with international students from Korea, we have displayed Korean posters, panels, and simple Korean conversation materials on campus.
In particular, June 13 (Tuesday) was designated as “Korea Day” and various events were held for students to experience and enjoy Korean culture. In addition to selling popular Korean gourmet foods such as Tteokbokki and mixed coffee, visitors were able to try on Hanbok (Korean traditional dressing) and experience traditional Korean games (Jaegi kicking, Gomoku-zari (five-piece game), Stone-throwing, Yunori, Gongi-nori, and Sabanchigi). All the game corners were crowded with students and people from the local community.
Students wore beautiful Hanboks and took many pictures. Students enjoyed the Korean traditional games with great interest.
We believe that this kind of experience will lead to cross-cultural understanding.
Our next cultural event would be “Japan Day”, which is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11th. We will continue working with the students to make sure to host a great event for our students and the local community.
