[Tourism and Ethics] Lecture on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” Using the “Global Code of Ethics for Tourism (GCET)”
In today’s global society, where achieving the “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs) is imperative, there is an increasing emphasis on ethical and responsible activities and behaviors within the tourism sector.
In the “Tourism and Ethics” class held on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, during the second period, the class used the Japanese version of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism (GCET) Handbook, published by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), as studying material.
Students reviewed all 10 articles on the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism (GCET). They particularly learned the significance of Article 1, Paragraph 1, which states that “understanding and promoting ethical values are the foundation and result of responsible tourism.”
