Osaka University of Tourism’s reskill program has been approved as a model project for the Japan Tourism Agency’s “Tourism Human Resource Development Project in the Post-COVID Era

We are pleased to announce that the “Human Resource Development Program for Tourism Destination Management” proposed by Professor Kinji Onoda of the Faculty of Tourism at Osaka University of Tourism has been selected by the Japan Tourism Agency for its “2023 Human Resource Development Project for Tourism in the Post-Corona Era”.
The project received 16 applications from all over Japan, and the six organizations selected for the program include Osaka University of Tourism, Waseda University, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and Pasona Group.

[Outline of the Program]

The content of this program is to promote the development of core human resources that will promote the revitalization and high-value-added development of tourist attractions and the creation of sustainable tourist regions.
Organize a curriculum review committee at Osaka University of Tourism, University of Marketing and Distribution Sciences, Teikyo Heisei University, Meikai University, and Idea IT College Aso to develop teaching materials, syllabus, and guidelines, and build a system of collaboration with industry (Yamatogokoro, Regional Co-Design Institute, etc.) and DMOs around Japan. A platform (Tourism Nation Platform “TEmPlat”) will be established.
From the next fiscal year, this platform will be used to develop a tourism human resource development project (tourism recurrent education), as well as a tourism business matching and tourism human resource matching project.
We also plan to develop a tourism business matching and tourism human resources matching business as well. OUR TEAM” is for everyone who aims to make Japan a tourism-oriented country, including those who manage tourism businesses, those who work for tourism-related companies, those who are considering a career change, and those who teach or are studying tourism at universities.
