Report on the Special Event: “Open Campus to Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Mizuma Railway”

On Sunday, May 19, 2024, we held a special event titled “Open Campus to Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Mizuma Railway.” This event was a collaboration between Mizuma Railway Co., Ltd. (https://www.suitetsu.com/), celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and the Railway Research Club. The event featured presentations by Mizuma Railway staff and conductor experiences in the railway yard.

During the morning on-campus program, presentations were given by Shinta Matsunami, President of the Railway Research Club (3rd year, Faculty of Tourism), and Takanori Amano-Jack, Mizuma Railway’s Public Relations Officer. Other activities included a “Gacha” game where participants could win commemorative Mizuma Railway 100th anniversary goods and a message board where attendees could leave messages for Mizuma Railway.

In the afternoon, participants headed to the starting station of Mizuma Railway, Kaizuka Station. From there, they took a chartered train to the terminal station, Mizuma Station, where they participated in the “Let’s Play with Trains!” program. Activities included attaching original headmarks to the trains, experiencing being a conductor using the conductor’s microphone, and a photo session.
