【Buddy Program】”Korea Special Day” Event
Osaka Tourism University held the “Korea Festival” over five days from June 17 to June 21, 2024. This special event, part of the Buddy Program where international and Japanese students pair up to participate in various activities, aims to promote “diversity” both within and outside the university.
During the Korea Festival, June 18 (Tuesday) was designated as “Korea Special Day.” On this day, booths were set up on campus where participants could try on traditional Korean hanbok and experience traditional games like jegichagi. Additionally, Korean international students introduced Korean food culture by serving visitors tteokbokki, hotteok, and mixed coffee.
The “Korea Special Day,” held for the second consecutive year, we have also featured a Korean language class conducted by Korean international students for the first time. This program received favorable feedback, especially from participants from the local community.
The event was supported by the Kobe Korean Education Center, which generously provided hanbok, posters, and other necessary items free of charge. (Due to heavy rain on the day of the event, the “Korean Culture Lecture” by the Kobe Korean Education Center and the “Taekwondo Experience” by an overseas government-dispatched instructor had to be canceled.)
In addition to the “Korea Festival,” Osaka Tourism University also conducts cultural exchange events focusing on Vietnam, China, and Japan. As part of the special Buddy Program initiatives, the university also organizes sports tournaments on campus, showcasing the international aspects of Osaka Tourism University to the public.
