“Performing Arts” Courses of Cultural Appreciation and Creative Practice, Collaborate with Kumatori Cultural Center’s Concert Hall

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, two classes of the first-year compulsory course “Performing Arts” within the Cultural Appreciation and Creative Practice program (Ibaragi Class and Hayami Class) visited the Kumatori Town Cultural Center called “Kitene Hall” and participated in a special backstage tour.

This joint class aims for students to present works they have developed in a concert. They plan to organize, manage, and perform a concert at Kitene Hall on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in the evening (time to be determined).

The Kumatori Town Board of Education cooperated to make the special backstage tour possible, and the audio and lighting staff from Kyoritsu, the contractor for Kitene Hall, led an interactive program.

The expert staff of “Kyoritsu” provided a thorough and creative program with many details, allowing around 40 students to explore the various perspectives of the newly opened Kitene Hall’s beautiful concert hall space and high-tech equipment. During the tour, the students also had the opportunity to operate the equipment directly. Overall, it was an exceptional experience that gave students a great source of inspiration for creating music and planning for the concert production in January.

As a university located in Kumatori Town, the “Performing Arts” program collaborates with the local hall and its technicians to broaden the students’ perspectives on local tourism through the lens of music and arts.

Special thanks to the staff of Kitene Hall, the Kumatori Town Board of Education, and the audio and lighting team from Kyoritsu for providing this unique experience.
