Exchange Class Held at Hashimoto High School, Wakayama Prefecture – First-Year “Seki no Sora” Program
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Osaka University of Tourism conducted an exchange class at Wakayama Prefectural Hashimoto High School as part of the first-year school-designated subject “Seki no Sora” (literally, “Sky of the Century”), and arranged for several international students to join.
The exchange was divided into five class groups, with eight international students from our university taking part. The high school students worked in groups to create and present tourism plans featuring local attractions such as Hashimoto City and Mount Koya. In response, the international students offered advice from two perspectives: as university students studying tourism and as foreign visitors. This provided the high school students with valuable opportunities to further enhance their tourism proposals.
One participant, Mr. Oh Jun-ho from Korea, commented, “I am also studying regional tourism in Wakayama at university. I was able to discover many new charms of Hashimoto City. Through the program, I was also impressed by the high quality of the presentations, which were surprisingly polished for high school students.”
Our university will continue to actively create opportunities for high school and university students to learn from each other, while promoting regional contribution through tourism.
