Professor Kenkichi Ono of Osaka University of Tourism Serves as Moderator and Speaker at the “Gardens Connecting Piedmont and Japan: Art, Beauty, and Well-being” Event in the Piedmont Week of the Italy Pavilion, Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

On September 30, 2025, Professor Kenkichi Ono of Osaka University of Tourism took part as both moderator and speaker at the event “Gardens Connecting Piedmont and Japan: Art, Beauty, and Well-being”, held during Piedmont Week in the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

The event began with Professor Ono explaining the purpose and significance of the session. Then, Ms. Marina Chiarelli, Regional Councilor for Culture, gave an overview of the gardens of the Royal House of Savoy, recognized as “living cultural heritage” among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Piedmont.

The program then continued as follows:

  • Ms. Yuko Hasegawa (Former Director of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa): “Museums and Gardens”

  • Ms. Angela Benotto: “International Activities of the Torino Art Foundation”

  • Ms. Chiara Teolato: “Gardens and the East” (Gardens of the Royal Residences of the House of Savoy)

  • Mr. Davide Quadrio: “Gardens and Contemporary Art”

As Professor Ono specializes in garden studies, he provided insightful academic commentary throughout the event, which stimulated lively discussion and engagement.
The venue was filled with many Japanese participants and attendees from various other countries, making the event a great success.
