Science Café: Disaster resilience and governance
Unlike a typical lecture or symposium, the “Science Café” is an attempt to create a place where experts and the public can casually have a conversation over a cup of coffee.
To start the conversation Associate Professor Hiroshi Taniguchi presented the topic “Can computers catch clouds: Weather forecasting for disaster prediction”.
There were numerous exchanges of opinions with the participants about climate change, the scientific basis for how approximations on weather forecasts are made, and their application to disaster resilience and governance.
