The University of Hyogo has been certified as a Mimosa Company
The University of Hyogo has been certified by Hyogo Prefecture and Kobe City as a Hyogo/Kobe Women’s Activity Promotion Corporation (Mimosa Company).
Mimosa Company certification was jointly established by Hyogo Prefecture and Kobe in November 2022, to certify companies supporting promotion and career paths for women and creating an inclusive work environment in Hyogo.
The first certification of Mimosa Company was given to 70 companies.
The criteria for the certification are that a company has achieved 14 or more of the 20 items in the four policies of corporate attitude: supporting career development, promoting female employers, and reducing the rates of female workers leaving the workforce.
The mimosa logo design was inspired by the symbolic flower of International Women’s Day designated by the United Nations. Therefore, Mimosa Company is given to companies that are actively establishing a better work environment for women.
At the Mimosa Forum, Masae Ishikawa (Director of the UN Women Japan Office) gave a speech on “Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment: The Role Companies Need to Play to Achieve the SDGs.” In this context, achieving gender equality is the key to accomplishing SDGs, without creating equality workplace all goals will be jeopardized. The Women’s Empowerment Principles state promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment as the core idea, contributes to business.
