NEWS | Boathouse Opening at Shichigahama
The Tohoku University Yacht Club held an opening ceremony for their newly completed boathouse on December 6. The original boathouse was washed away from the coastal village of Shichigahama in the tsunami that followed the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. Construction on the boathouse was completed in August, and the opening was held in conjunction with the Yacht Club's 75th anniversary.
The ceremony was attended by university administrative staff including President Satomi, representatives from Shichigahama, the Sailing League and Yacht Associations as well as Tohoku University Yacht Club Alumni. In a presentation following the ceremony, the mayor of Shichigahama acknowledged all those who had contributed to the reconstruction of the boathouse.
