Food Bank at the Faculty of Human Science and Environment UOH

On the 6th and 7th of July, the SDGs Promotion Office organised a food drive. It is a charity event where individuals bring in surplus food and donate to organisations and institutions in need. This is the second food drive at the Faculty of Human Science and Environment, following the first one in January this year. The donation was made to Food Bank Harima.

Freshmen students played an active role in making flyers and helping at the reception desk on the day of the event.

Not only school members but also local residents and parents also participated in the food drive.

We collected baby food, cup noodles, snacks etc.

A freshman student who participated in the project, says that she felt the warmth of the people.

“It was my first food drive so I was very surprised that so many people were willing to help. It was heartwarming to see people willing to donate food from their homes to others. I had the great opportunity to learn about food banks, as they make delivery to multiple facilities every day and how foods that do not require cooking skills (such as instant noodles and canned food) are valued. This experience motivated me to continue activities to eliminate poverty as much as possible.”
