Introduction of The University of Kitakyushu

Overview of Our University

Beginning as Kokura Foreign Studies College 70 years ago, the University of Kitakyushu has grown into a school with four faculties and one school in the humanities and one faculty in the sciences. The surrounding Kitakyushu region boasts extensive experience in industrial technology and solutions to environmental problems, and a rich history of cultural exchange and trade with Asia. Leveraging these unique characteristics, the university conducts research activities and works to develop people with a pioneering spirit and robust individualism. In honor of our 70th anniversary, we have pledged to actively engage in education and research based on three key concepts—Community, Environment, and World—and will strive to achieve the goals of each one by our 100th anniversary.

● Community: Viewing the entire community as our campus, we will develop people who can play an active role in the local community through involvement with residents and the community.

● Environment: We will conduct advanced research and develop technologies in the environmental field, and contribute the results to the community and the world.

● World: We will instill students with a global mindset, and provide them with practical capabilities such as communication skills and the ability to identify and solve problems.
