NUT faculty gave a lecture at “The First Seminar of SDGs Niigata”(2020.5.26)

On Tuesday, May 26, "The First Seminar of SDGs Niigata" was held. This is a webinar to learn about corporate activities and community development based on SDGs, and Professor Takaomi Kobayashi, Head, Department of Science of Technology Innovation, gave a lecture.

This webinar was held as the first of the regular seminar for members by the preparatory of “SDGs Niigata for Regional Revitalization Platform” which consists of Niigata Prefecture, The Niigata Nippo, and companies in the prefecture, with the aim of promoting corporate activities based on SDGs and regional revitalization in Niigata Prefecture and creating a virtuous cycle of economics, society, and the environment in the region.

Prof. Kobayashi gave a lecture entitled "Business Opportunities Created by the SDGs" and introduced SDGs efforts of Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) in the three filed of education, regional cooperation, and global cooperation. Then he explained the importance of companies and educational institutions returning their technologies and characteristics to society and fulfilling their roles in society in order to realize a sustainable society that harmonizes the environment and the economy.

Following Prof. Kobayashi, Hirohisa Yoshizawa, Director of the Niigata Medical Center Hospital, gave a lecture entitled "Infectious Situation of New Viruses and Future Prospects" and Takeo Tominaga from Management Support Center, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. , gave a lecture entitled "Tips for Continuing Business Activities in the Context of New Viruses."

On that day, Prof. Kobayashi gave a lecture from The Niigata Nippo Nagaoka Branch via personal computers.

Many participants asked questions to lectures and had a lively exchange of opinions.

As the only UNAI SDG9 hub university in the world, NUT will continue to work with local communities, businesses, and local governments to promote better understanding of SDGs.
