Nagaoka University of Technology holds an SDG Talk Seminar in collaboration with partners in industry, academia, government, and finance.

On Thursday, February 29, the “SDG Talk Seminar Series” was held in a hybrid format, co-sponsored by industry, academia, government organizations, and finance.

Four lecturers, Mr. Motoyuki YADA (Glocal Marketing Co., Ltd.), Mr. Tatsuo HOSHI (SDGs Niigata for Regional Revitalization Platform), Professor Yuki MURAKAMI (National Institute of Technology, Nagaoka College), and Ms. Izumi NAKAZAWA (Nagaoka City Local Vitalization Cooperator), spoke on this year’s theme of “Becoming a Nagaoka that can make a profit sustainably.” In their lecture, they shared the current situation in Niigata Prefecture and introduced what efforts can be made to achieve SDG Goal 8, which was the focus of this lecture, providing an opportunity to promote efforts to realize a sustainable society together with companies and local residents.

We received positive feedback from participants, such as “I could understand Niigata/Nagaoka’s approach to the SDGs,” “It was a good listening experience with many real-life examples,” and “It was a good reference for my future SDG activities.” We were also able to receive valuable feedback on how to organize future lectures.

The event was attended by more than 90 participants, both on-site and online. It was a great success with online participation from outside Niigata Prefecture.

As a UNAI (United Nations Academic Impact) SDG 9 Global Hub University, we will continue to widely disseminate the SDGs to many people, including Nagaoka citizens, and conduct research, technology development, and education that will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and to innovation that can contribute to society.
