The 8th Panel on GIGAKU Education was held.
The 8th Panel on GIGAKU Education was held online on Friday, February 9. This will be the first annual meeting since “GIGAKU SDG Network,” which the core members of the conference applied for, was appointed by the UNITWIN Network as “The UNITWIN Network for Engineering Education towards Sustainable Pathways” on February 20, 2023.
In addition to members of the GIGAKU SDG Network of 10 institutions and companies, which includes us, we welcomed as advisors the local coordinator of the GIGAKU Techno Park Network, which promotes international industry-academia collaboration, and Ms. Rovani Sigamoney, Engineering Programme Specialist at UNESCO.
Dr. Osamu TAKAHASHI, our Vice President for International Relations, served as facilitator for the day, which began with greetings from President, Dr. Shigeharu KAMADO and each member, followed by a reconfirmation of the network’s activities and sharing of information on activities at each institution. Discussion was also held on the proposed new program, “Creating a Textbook on Engineer Ethics.”
Finally, Ms. Rovani Sigamoney commented on UNESCO’s initiatives, in addition to what is required of the UNITWIN network, and the GIGAKU SDG Network.
Together with the members of the GIGAKU SDG Network, who share the same basic philosophy of engineering education, we will continue to promote quality assurance in engineering education and the global expansion of engineering education, focusing on practical engineering education and solving SDG issues.
