NUT held the 2nd International Conference of “Science of Technology Innovation”

Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) held the 2nd International Conference of “Science of Technology Innovation” (STI-Gigaku) on October 6 and 7, 2017.

STI-Gigaku encourages students to discuss issues such as energy, climate change, poverty, and hunger based on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” (17 goals and 169 targets) which the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit has adopted as the 2030 agenda for sustainable development in September 2015, we expect to organize this conference can seek for the solutions to the above targeted goals for sustainable development through discussions. More than 100 university students and National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) students from domestic and overseas participated in the 1st STI-Gigaku, held on January 2017 under the sponsorship of United Nations Information Centre and they actively discussed in English toward realization of sustainable development. At the 2nd STI-Gigaku, 323 participants together with “International GIGAKU Conference in Nagaoka” held at the same time discussed.

NUT has been firmly collaborating with KOSEN, domestic and foreign universities and we are driving the Tri-Institutional Collaborative / Cooperative Educational Reform Project with Toyohashi University of Technology and KOSEN, and also promoting educational research based on GIGAKU Techno Park, which is the core of the Top Global University Project. Through STI-Gigaku, we will promote publicizing and sharing the results of educational research through these collaborative projects, and we also would like to hold STI-Gigaku for cultivating further world-wide networks toward future educational research.
