NUT awarded “Science Agora Award” at Science Agora 2017, hosted by Japan Science and Technology Agency

 November 24 to 26, 2017, the biggest science communication event in Japan “Science Agora 2017” (Hosted by Japan Science and Technology Agency) was held at Telecom Center Building (Aomi, Koto, Tokyo), and Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) was one of the exhibit presenters.

 The theme of Science Agora for this year which counts the 12th anniversary was “Beyond the boundaries”. Whole program was successfully carried out by having keynote lecture presented by Professor Muhammad Yunus (a Nobel prize laureate), and about 150 presenters were participated at the exhibition booth and session stage. It brought all together total of 5,000 visitors within the 3 days.

 NUT awarded “Science Agora Award“ which is given to 4 out of 150 presenters for outstanding exhibition.

 NUT has been proactively carrying out its project on seeking & solving local problem along with to support United Nations “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.

 In the event, we presented as “NUT-KOSEN Glocal (Global + Local) project“ which utilizing “National network of National Institute of Technology(NIT)” and “International network of NUT by Forming of collaboration team with 28 members consist of students and faculty members from: NUT; NIT, Kure College; NIT, Miyakonojo College; NIT, Kitakyushu College; and NIT, Ube College.
 With the project title of “Parent and child Challenge! – Try and archive local problems through 17 world goals!“, our diverse and dynamic activities by which 14 students mainly conducted was successfully delivered by poster presentation introducing world movement towards local problem as well as NUT and NIT`s project, also by introducing SDGs education game (SDGs card game and SDGs carom) designed for parent-child collaboration created through our past project.

 We believe that wide range of visitors from child to adult found our session informative and joyful as to learning technology, science, and SDGs. A lot of laughing and smile from child were seen especially at the SDGs educational game.

 We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who visited our site, and we continue to explore our path on seeking & solving local problem leading “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
