NUT faculty members gave an online lecture on SDGs to Gosen High School.(2021.2.22)
On February 22nd (Mon), faculty members of Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) gave an online lecture on SDGs to the students of Niigata Prefectural Gosen High School (about 200 students in 5 classes of 1st year students). This is the first time for Gosen High School to have an online lecture and NUT provided support including connection testing.
In the lecture, Dr. Hideo Aida, (a member of Office for SDGs Promotion / Associate Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering), explained about "diamond semiconductors," "ethical diamonds," etc., and explained in clear term that there is an unexpected connection between jewelry and SDGs. In addition, Dr. Mami Katsumi UEA from Office for SDGs Promotion explained the essential of SDGs and conducted group work.
After the lecture, a representative of student gave words of appreciation, "I was able to learn about the research at Nagaoka University of Technology. It was easy to understand.”NUT will continue to actively work towards the promotion of the SDGs in cooperation with local communities and educational institutions.
