Staff Development Session “Understanding SDGs”

A Staff Development Session was held at Osaka Gakuin University to deepen understanding of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the medium of group game-playing. The main goals of this session were to experience how the world would change and be affected from now through to 2030 should the 17 goals be accomplished, and to understand in more depth what the SDGs are aiming to achieve.

Through this activity participants came to understand why the implementation of SDGs are needed in the current global climate, and how SDGs can effect change and create new possibilities. Furthermore, each of the participants was encouraged to think about what she or he can do to realize the SDGs when working with people who possess a different set of values or way of life, which made playing the game together enjoyable.

Osaka Gakuin University is continuing to offer this kind of training session in order to contribute to the world sustainably, develop individuals with practical ability and broad vision who can contribute to the peace and welfare of humankind, promote intercultural dialogue and understanding, and encourage the “unlearning” of intolerance through education.
