SDGs de Community Remake

On Monday, October 28, 2019, Osaka Gakuin University welcomed Mr. Takumi Tsubota, a certified facilitator, to conduct a workshop that combined the 2016-2030 United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the idea of “remaking our community!”

Mr. Tsubota first talked about SDGs and community remake in order to make participants think about how SDGs are connected to their daily lives. Participants had to think about problems at their work place or community and measures to fix them. All participants tried a card game called “SDGs de Community Remake” that was developed based on predictions on where Japan will be in the next 12 years. The participants were divided into different business categories and had to communicate and cooperate to achieve a set goal. One participant commented that the game helped him figure out how to make the local community better. Others reflected on their own lives and said, “I found it important to think of the community as a whole, and not only my own projects.” and “I found that the relationship between the public sectors and people is important.”

Osaka Gakuin University continuously aims to nurture people with practical ability and broad vision who can serve society at large and contribute to the peace and welfare of humankind.
