Documentary film screening "The Man who Mends Women"
(in French with Japanese subtitle) followed by lecture by
Mr. Keiichi Shirato, Chief Analyst, Mitsui Global Strategic
Studies Institute, former reporter of Mainichi Shimbun and
Ms. Masako Yonekawa, Specially Appointed Associate
Proffessor, Rikkyo University, former Head of Field Office,
UNHCR, Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo.
This film portrays Doctor Denis Mukwege Mukengere, devoting
himself to mend survivors of sexual violence through medical,
psycological and leagal means despite an assasination attempt.
In addition, the film covers shocking testimonies of survivors,
culture of impunity enjoyed by the perpetrators, woman's
organizations taking actions to bring hope, and 'conflict minerals'
behind the tragedies.
