Nagaoka University of Technology and the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Nagaoka College held “The 3rd SDG Talk Seminar.”

On Monday, February 21, Nagaoka University of Technology and the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Nagaoka College held “The 3rd SDG Talk Seminar,” a hybrid event co-hosted by the Nagaoka Association of Engineering.
After a lecture by Mr. HAYAMI Toru (Representative Director of Hayami Forest), a panel discussion was held on progress and challenges in realizing a sustainable recycling-oriented society in Nagaoka City. The panel included Mr. Hayami, officials from Nagaoka City, and faculty members from us, as well as Mr. IKEDA Yuichi, who had given a lecture at a symposium held prior to this event.
We received positive responses from the participants, including comments such as, “I was able to learn about state-of-the art technology and ideas I had never thought about before,” and, “It was good to hear the open and candid discussion.” We also received some valuable feedback for future lectures, such as, “I would like you to narrow down the themes a bit more,” and, “I would also like to hear students’ opinions.”
A total of more than 120 people attended the event, either on-site or online. It was a great success, with many participants from outside Niigata Prefecture joining us online.
As the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) SDG 9 Global Hub University, we will continue to promote the SDGs among the residents of Nagaoka and more widely throughout society, and conduct activities that contribute to achieving the SDGs as well as research, technological development, and education that will drive innovation contribute to society.
