Trial event “Extensive Reading and Listening x SDGs Challenge” was held.
On 2nd March (Wed), we held a trial event “Extensive Reading and Listening x SDGs Challenge.” This event was jointly organized by the Language Center, the Library, and the Office for SDGs Promotion in order to improve students’ language skills through extensive reading and listening, and to further promote understanding and practice of SDGs on campus.
First, UEA Dr. KATSUMI Mami explained the need to think in terms of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) when using eco-bags instead of plastic bags and introduced how to use Furoshiki (wrapping cloth) for all purposes.
Next, Assoc. Prof. FUJII Kazuma explained about the Extensive Reading and Listening and the SDGs. Student participants selected book for extensive reading and listening in advance, and created quiz related to the SDGs based that book. On the day of the event, students quizzed each other and raised awareness of the SDGs and deepened exchanges among participants. After that, they made a group and exchanged their opinions in English including which goals they were interested in.
We will continue to organize events and seminars related to the SDGs to foster the awareness of SDGs on campus through our original SDGs activities.
